Parks and Recreation doesn't only meet the criteria, but goes well beyond.
- Its plot is action oriented and based on superficial nature. Parks and Recreation's plot is based on the daily events that occur in the parks department in Pawnee. Leslie and her crew come in contact with many obstacles when trying to overcome even the simplest of tasks. When Leslie tried to pass a law to better Pawnee, her arch enemy- Councilman Jamm- made it nearly impossible for her. By sabotage and backstabbing, Leslie has to come up with different ways to pass her law.
- The main characters are central to the plot, and are the masterminds of schemes to solve problems and leaders of the actions. With Leslie's 'in-control' attitude, she almost always assumed the role of leader. In season 3, Leslie comes down with the flu. She is in charge of holding a city meeting that is explaining the upcoming event, Harvest Festival. Instead of listening to the doctor and recovering in the hospital, Leslie steals medication and shows up at the meeting. In her hilarious drug induced state, Leslie demands to run the meeting as planned, and somehow pulls it together for the duration of the meeting.
- Appeals to intellect rather than emotion. In order to fully appreciate the humor and wit, experience can make it even better. This show focuses on real life events that are the consequence of poor judgement and hasty actions.
- The situation and component parts is unsuitable for their surrounding associations. In season 2, Ron's crazy ex wife, Tammy, decides to make an effort in getting Ron back. Tammy is absolutely crazy and known as "The Devil" to most. Tammy wanted Leslie's empty lot to build a new library, but that wasn't her only motive. She used sex and manipulation to get Ron back on her side, and then tried to get to Leslie. After Ron succumbed to her whim, and got cornrows, Leslie decided she needed to intervene. So taking matters into her own hands, she released Ron from Tammy's firm grasp.
- Parks and Recreation deals with current events, and uses them to make light of situations. It takes similar situations of what we average people have been in, creating a show that embodies the 2000's as a whole. The comedy in the show reflects so much of our culture now, and the trials and tribulations we encounter on a daily basis. After 28 minutes, the show always seems to be able to control it's chaos and end in a heart warming note.
